El Rufai to critics: Go and die if you’re not happy over my appointees #Nejxvid

KADUNA – Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai yesterday went into an outburst when some critics faults his political appointments so far describing it as lopsided.

El-Rufai who visibly lost his temper while answering questions from stakeholders at the 4th town hall meeting with Kaduna Central, otherwise known as zone 2, said he could not give appointment to persons that did not vote for him during the last governorship election, adding that anyone that was unhappy about it could go commit suicide.
Recall that El Rufai has been criticized for severely for appointing his close friends, including none indigenes of Kaduna state, and also his family members into plump positions in the state.
The criticism became a barrage last week with the nomination of his cousin, Hadiza Shamsudeen, as the Minister from Kaduna state.
His words: “If you are not happy with appointments made, you can go and climb Kufena mountain, fall and die.
“It was what you voted that you got, because we are aware that there are people who did not vote for us, in fact they worked against us.

“But now they claim to be APC members and loyal to the party. We know such people. And so there is no way they would expect anything from us.

Earlier, Governor El-Rufai also unveiled new logo for the state saying henceforth the state will now use its own court of arms.
“As a reflection of our confidence in the future of Kaduna State, we are today unveiling a new State Logo.

9 Must-know Things Buhari Said About Ministers, Other Issues On France24 #Nekxfresh

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, who is currently on three-day state visit in Paris, gives an exclusive interview to France 24 on Boko Haram, ministerial list, presidency.

President Buhari left Abuja on September 14, Monday for talks with his French counterpart Francois Hollade seeking end of the deadly insurgency that have killed a lot of Nigerians.

Nigerian leader has also met with business community and advised investors not to miss huge opportunities in his country.
He is expected back in Nigeria today, September 16.

Nekxfresh has picked up his 9 must-know quotes on the key challenges.

On Boko Haram insurgency:
1. The results of the re-organisation we carried out in the military are being seen. There is progress being done. Our main concern is the condition of the Chibok girls and how we can recover them.
2. We have to first identify that those who claim to be Boko Haram leaders are actually the leaders, and they know where the Chibok girls are and their present condition.
3. France is more hands-on in the Boko Haram issue because Nigeria is totally surrounded by former French colonial countries and France has maintained a strong relationship with its former colonies.

On ministerial appointments
4. The ministers are there to make a lot of noise; for the politicians to make a lot of noise. But the work is being done by the technocrats. They are there to provide the continuity, dig into the records and then guide us, [those of us] who are just coming in.
5. I think this question of ministers is political. People from different constituencies want to see their people directly in government, and see what they can get out of it.
6. As for the cabinet, I said we will have one by the end of the month, and time flies. The end of the month is coming too quickly for my liking. I will send the names to the national assembly.
7. We have a government but we don’t have a cabinet. I don’t know how you define that but we have a government and that is why I am here. Under this system, we have to have ministers and we are going to have ministers.

On being president of Nigeria
8. The last time I was leader, I was in the barracks, this time I’m in the palace. It is so big and very expensive to maintain but it is there, it cannot be removed. I don’t think I am a different man but I am coming back in a different system. A better system because this is what works.
9. I was convinced in December 1991 when the Soviet union collapsed, that multi-party democratic system is the best form of government, otherwise it will be the same old problem.

Buhari Sheds Lights On NNPC Appointments #NekxFresh

The sources say that President Muhammadu Buhari appoints the new Group Managing Director in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

A statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the president has also approved the
appointment of Umaru Danbatta as the new executive vice chairman and chief executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

According to sources, who pledged to be anonymous, President Buhari met with Kachikwu on August 3, to complete talks on his vision for the state owned corporation, which has been tangled in
accusation of corruption and dubious accounting practices.

The nomination reportedly is one of the many to come in Buhari’s bid to rid the NNPC of corruption.

It should be noted that Nigeria makes billions of dollars from crude oil, which funds about 85 % of the federal budget, but the president said that an estimated 250,000 barrels of crude is stolen daily by thieves and sold abroad.

Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu comes from Onicha-Ugbo in Delta state was the executive vice chairman and general counsel of Exxon Mobil (Africa).

He is a first class graduate of law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Nigerian law school.
He is also in the possession of Masters and Doctorate Degrees (Law) Harvard law school.

His career started with the Nigerian/American Merchant Bank, he worked with Texaco Nigeria Limited, then left and joined Exxon-Mobil before his
appointment.

Dr. Kachikwu is a very well respected technocrat with an faultless record. He has never hold a political position.
His candidacy is being endorsed by the West and influential patrons who are frustrated by the corruption in the petroleum sector.

It would be recalled that President Buhari sacked NNPC board of directors a month ago. He also revealed his intention to break up the commission.
There had been reports that President Buhari is set to become Nigerian next minister of petroleum resources as he rather appoint himself than trust anyone else with the main source of Nigeria’s revenue.

We warned Tinubu that ‘northern allies’ willbetray him — Fani-Kayode #Nekxfresh

http://vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/FANI-KAYODE-TINUBU.jpg
According to Vanguard, Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has
stated that former governor of Lagos state and
chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Bola
Ahmed Tinubu was warned that ‘northern allies in
APC’ will betray him.

“Another is the destruction and demystification of
Bola Tinubu and his Yoruba loyalists by his erstwhile
northern allies in the APC. Only a fool did not see that
one coming and I am rather surprised that Tinubu’s
followers are now crying foul and alleging that there
is a northern conspiracy. Didnt they know that
before? Were they not warned over and over again?,”

the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party
2015 Presidential Campaign Organisation posted on
his Facebook account.
http://cdn1.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/372x141xFani-posts.jpg.pagespeed.ic.9uZg5KvQck.jpg

There are rumours that there are efforts by some
forces in the party to demystify the perceived
growing influence of Tinubu, who was instrumental
in the formation of the APC and also led the
campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari
Fani-Kayode also warned that “there are many other
grave consequences which the Nigerian people will
witness, in a most harrowing and frightful manner, in
the next few months and years. May God deliver our
people and our nation and may we learn to make the
right choices”.

APC & PDP at War Over Source ofN804.7 Billion Economic Bailout for States Owing Salaries #Nekxfresh

http://bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Muhammadu-Buhari.png
On Tuesday, BN brought you the news that President
Muhammadu Buhari approved the sum of N804.7
billion to assist states who have been unable to pay
salaries.

And now, Vanguard is reporting that the presidency
and the national leadership of PDP are sharply
divided over the sources of the N804.7 billion.
The report states:

While the PDP said that a significant amount of the
princely sum came from savings left behind by the
out-gone administration of Goodluck Jonathan, the
Presidency disagreed, arguing that the money came
from proceeds of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas
(NLNG). The Presidency also denied some media
reports that the presidential relief package was
drawn from the Excess Crude Accounts, ECA,
stressing that the ECA is intact.

PDP National Chairman, Olisa Metuh, released the
following statement on the matter (excerpts):

“This development is in clear contradiction to the
earlier impression given by President Buhari to
Nigerians and the international community that
they should not expect much from his
administration in its first 100 days because
according him, on assumption of office, he met a
virtually empty treasury.

We want to believe that given the President’s
release of such huge amount, he may have
realized that he was earlier misdirected on the
actual financial state of the nation at the time he
took over. In this regard, we expect the President,
as a respected statesman to do the needful to
correct that erroneous impression.

Furthermore, we expect President Buhari’s APC
administration as direct beneficiary of this savings
initiated by past PDP administrations to
appreciate the strategic importance of always
saving for rainy days and as such guarantee
prudent & transparent management of the
nation’s resources now under its care.”

In response, Senior Special Assistant to the President
Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba
Shehu said:

“Let me say that no money was taken from the
Excess Crude Account. I was present two weeks
ago when the governors met with the President,
one of them (governors) called his attention to the
fact that he had heard that Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG, had paid in some dividends to Nigeria.
Let me also add that in the course of their courtesy visit last week, the board of NLNG announced to the president that they had made the payment. So in a similar way, the President was just informed about this money last week.”

Special Adviser to the President on Media and
Publicity, Femi Adesina also stated:

“Reports in sections of the media today that funds
will be drawn from the Excess Crude Account for
the relief package approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for states and local governments, are incorrect. For the purpose of
greater clarity on the matter, the measures approved by President Buhari to deal with the
problem of unpaid public sector salaries in many
states are as follows:

*The sharing of the $2.1 billion dividend paid to
the Federation Account by the Nigeria Liquefied
Natural Gas Company (NLNG);

*A Central Bank-packaged special intervention
fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging
from N250 billion to N300 billion. This will be a
soft loan available to states for the purposes of
paying backlog of salaries; and

*A debt relief programme designed by the Debt
Management Office which will help states
restructure their commercial loans currently put
at over N660 Billion, and extend the life span of
such loans while reducing their debt-servicing
expenditures.

The measures approved by President Buhari
definitely do not include drawing down the
remaining balance in the Excess Crude Account or
the “liquidation” of the account as some media
outlets have wrongly reported. No such decision
has been taken or approved by President Buhari,
and last week’s meeting of the National Economic
Council clearly concluded that the Excess Crude
Account should be left untouched at this time.”

Nigerian Ex-Governor To Be Jailed In UK #Nekxfresh

The Metropolitan police in the United Kingdom
have arrested the former Benue state governor
Gabriel Suswam after he allegedly battered his
wife.
https://i.onthe.io/vllkyt299dmutg7g9.116e8701.jpg
After his arrest, the Metropolitan Police Domestic
Violence Office initially held him at its London
detention centre. He was later released on £5,000
bail.

According to nigeriancurrent.com, Suswam’s wife
Yemisi placed an emergency call to the police from
their luxury London home to report that the
embattled governor had physically assaulted her.
She explained to the police dispatcher that during a
minor argument in which she condemned her
husbands questionable relationship with mistress
‘Shidoo’, Suswam battered her which prompted her
to run for her life.

If found guilty, the ex-governor could be jailed for
about six months in the UK under the Persons Act of
1861.

It was alleged Shidoo is beginning to gain more
influence in the life of the ex-governor and as a
result, Suswam, who has allegedly previously
attacked his wife, increased the tempo.

In fact, a close family source revealed that Suswah
had always told Yemisi he would legally marry
Shidoo.

A family source described Shidoo as a very loving
woman. “She was always helpful to the Benue people
and that was what endeared her to our people.

She
was always ready to help. If any Benue person
needed something from the former governor, Shidoo
was always ready to help” , he said.

Like most governors, Suswam owns a permanent
home in London which he visited while in office and
has relocated to now that he has retired.

It was reported that the ex-governor sought refuge in
the UK after he had ruled Benue state for eight years,
in order to avoid the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission.

https://i.onthe.io/vllkyt7mb1dua54j4.dfaa5bbe.jpg
The federal government is on the verge of
fulfilling one of its campaign promises as the
president Muhammadu Buhari-led
administration is set to pay the poorest citizens
across the country.

Making this disclosure during the 10th year
anniversary lecture of Crescent University, Abeokuta
was Nigeria’s vice president, professor Yemi
Osinbajo, who hinted that the unemployed as well as
the poor Nigerians would pocket N5,000 monthly.

According to Leadership reports, the number two
citizen of Nigeria stated that government is currently
evaluating the best ways to collapse existing cash
transfer and social welfare schemes to ensure
consistency and alignment.

“Once this is completed, we will implement the first
phase of this program, using recognized
identification platforms and transparent payment
solutions.

“We cannot talk about the economy of the future
without addressing how we move people out of
poverty. One of the most striking promises we made
during the campaign was the payment of Five
Thousand Naira to the poorest Nigerians across the
country.

“About 112 million (66% of Nigerians) are deemed
extremely poor, measured by World Bank parameter
of those living on less than US$1.25 per day,”

Osinbajo explained.
