Niger Delta Avengers attacks Shell Forcados Pipeline in Delta State Nigeria

The Niger Delta Avengers has attacked and blown up another oil installation in southern Nigeria as reported by Naij News.

According to the militant group’s Twitter account, its members carried out an attack on the Shell Nigeria (SPDC) 48 Export Pipeline, located near Forçados, Delta state, at 03:00 last night.

The pipeline was being repaired for damage caused by a previous attack by the militant group when it was blown up.

According to the group’s Twitter account, the Niger Delta Avengers had warned Shell against repairing the damage installation but its threats went unheeded.

The pipeline is operated by Shell however, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, owns it.

When confirming its attack on the pipeline, the militant group also denied that it had attacked a military houseboat in Delta state which cause the deaths of several Nigerian soldiers.

This latest attack comes just 24 hours after the Niger Delta Avengers attacked two pipelines in Bayelsa state after carrying out the attacks, the militants issued a warning that it will reduce oil production throughout Nigeria to zero.

The avengers had caused a political furore earlier this week after threatening to assassinate President Muhammadu Buhari if he visited Ogoniland to launch a cleanup operation.

The president subsequently decided not to visit Ogoniland in light of the security risks.
